Saturday Sept 8th: Peter has been a chef and involved with food for all his working life. After graduating from Beverley College, Yorkshire, he worked in many of the best hotels in York before travelling around Europe.
After a period of working in London, he moved to Cumbria and opened `The Good Taste Café` in Keswick in 2003. Peter wrote his first book `Simply Good Taste` in 2007, which sold over 4,000 copies. This became the launching platform for a succession of books and the launch of a TV career. He made his first TV series, `Lakes on a Plate` in 2010 for Channel 4.
He sold the café in 2011 and opened a cookery school at Rheged near Penrith. A well-known face in Cumbria, he was one of the first to promote local produce in his cooking.
More recently he has developed his cookery school at premises at Sunset Hill near Keswick. `The Simply Good Cookery School` is a base from which he pursues many of his business activities. Besides the cookery school, he is a consultant to various large companies, prepares videos and films associated with cooking and food.
No stranger to `al fresco` cookery, in May 2008, he took his skills to the top of Skiddaw, England`s fourth highest mountain, and presented a sumptuous three course meal to 30 people over two days. Luckily the weather was extremely favourable!
